Veterans get breakfast, food supplies at Reading program

Reading Eagle - 1/29/2023

Jan. 29—Volunteers from the R.M. Butterweck Detachment Marine Corps League prepared breakfast Saturday for the Veterans at the Paul R. Gordon Veteran Social Center in Reading.

Breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage gravy over biscuits or toast, fresh diced potatoes, fresh fruit, juices and coffee.

Veterans Making A Difference held its monthly Veteran Food Pantry following breakfast. The pantry was led by the Penske Veterans Business Resource Group.

About 50 Veterans showed up for breakfast and then received food from the pantry as they were leaving.

Veterans Making a Difference seeks a sponsor to support the pantry each month. That includes purchasing food and/or donating money to buy supplies. Organizers said the organization has enough canned goods but is in need of fresh produce, frozen meals, cheese, bread, eggs and other such items.

To support the pantry or sign up to serve breakfast to the veterans, call or text Liz Graybill at 484-577-6898 or email lizgraybill@yahoo.com
