McKetta booted from mental health court

Moscow-Pullman Daily News - 7/18/2018

July 18--A mental health court team terminated Matthew McKetta from the program Monday for allegedly not complying with the team's conditions, according to Latah County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Ashley Jennings.

McKetta has repeatedly found himself in trouble with law enforcement this month, having twice been arrested in July.

The most recent arrest came July 10 after McKetta allegedly crashed his car in Whitman County while he was out past his court-mandated curfew. Terms of McKetta's probation also dictate he is not allowed to leave the state without the permission of his probation officer.

McKetta was also jailed for three days earlier this month after he was allegedly out past curfew and did not notify his probation officer about contact between him and law enforcement.

McKetta, who is been in Latah County Jail since his July 10 arrest, was sentenced to five years probation in April for his role in an attempt to cover up the death of Pullman resident Timothy Reeves last July. He was released from jail after his April sentencing.

Jennings said McKetta can contest or accept his termination from the program at a hearing set for 3:30 p.m. Monday.

If he contests, Jennings said an evidentiary hearing would be scheduled. If he accepts his termination, Jennings said McKetta would enter an admission to his alleged probation violations. Jennings said McKetta could be sentenced Monday or at a later date depending on whether or not the parties are ready to proceed.
